"I will win the state championship this year!! I can do this!" George shouted as he sprang forward out of the starting blocks. He was of short stature but he was very muscular and he was known for his athleticism through his high school. George was 17 and a senior at his high school where he ran for the track team and he was very good at what he did.
George set a lot of goals for himself before his senior season because he wanted to be the best track athlete that he could possibly be. During his junior year his track season went pretty decent, but not as well as he'd wanted or expected. George came up very short during the conference meet and he was very disappointed in his times in his event, the 400 meter dash.
George wanted to make up for all of the losses that he took during his track career in high school because he knew that it was his senior year and it was his last chance to go to states and win. He had a very strong will and he didn't give up very easily.
The long-legged sprinter's spikes lightly clicked on the rubber material of the tar colored track as he furiously made his way around the curve of the track and began to build his momentum. His breaths were long and relaxed and his arms swung with perfect rhythm and form as George bounded towards the finish line and took a final gasp as he crossed the finish line.
"Good run George.." The coach said as George slowly walked towards the water fountain and tried to recover his breath.
